meet me in the middle
Hi There! My name is Gabby. Thank you for stopping by. Let me tell you a little bit about myself:
At 38, with three kids under the age of six and a fast-paced career at one of the hottest tech companies in the world, I made the decision to step away and take a much-needed break. It gave me time to reflect on the last 20 years of my career, including a decade at Amazon, all the unexpected twists and turns, and the lessons I learned along the way.
I was lucky to have the support of brilliant managers, mentors and professors who helped me think along my career journey and I love being able to do the same for others - whether it’s helping peers prepare to deliver tough feedback, coaching mentees on how to evaluate career options, or guiding my direct reports on how to think through a challenging business problem.
Over the next few months I’ll be using this space to share stories from my career, mistakes I’ve made along the way, and answers to some of the most common questions I get from my former direct reports, colleagues and mentees. If I can help anyone currently in the first half of their career navigate those tricky phases - from being a recent grad, to first time people manager, to working parent and middle manager - I’ll consider this a success.
Get in touch below and let me know what you’d like to hear from a corporate tech veteran, MBA graduate and working parent.
The bottom line is that we were not made to do this alone. Although, I feel like we are always one stomach bug away from everything falling apart, this support network has helped our family hold it together for the past six years.
